2011 IOM Bay Festival will have you Spelbound by their ‘Early Birds’!

Following hot on the heels of the success of this year’s Manx Telecom Bay Festival the organisers have announced that they have already finalised the line-up for next year’s ‘X Factor Meets Britain’s Got Talent’. With over 8,000 in attendance this year the organisers have been inundated with requests asking when next years will be on sale as no one wants to miss out.

Jonathan Irving co-event promoter with his son Jamie said: “The Father’s Day spectacular starring Olly Murs, Diversity, Danyl Johnson, Signature, Stavros Flately etc went down a storm. I was backstage looking out at the audience and the excitement and enthusiasm for the whole event was like nothing I had seen before. So we decided to strike while the iron was still hot and build on the success by releasing next year’s tickets next week, which is again on Father’s Day.”

Jamie Irving said: “we decided to make it even more fun and keep the interest going right through. Therefore based on the fact that no one had heard of Olly Murs or Danyl Johnson at this time last year we have decided that whoever finishes 2nd and 3rd on this year’s X Factor they will be appearing on the Bay Festival stage on 19th June next year. So watch closely! In addition we are excited to say we have booked the winners of this year’s Britain’s Got Talent, Spelbound plus runners up Twist and Pulse and to compere and perform his own inimitable act will be impersonator and comedian and BGT finalist Paul Burling.

Jamie concluded by saying that: “the one and only Stacey Solomon will also be performing and to make it even more exciting we are asking people to vote for their most popular artist from this year’s XF/BGT. Whoever wins the popular vote will be invited back as part of the line-up for the Father’s Day extravaganza. People will be able to vote next week through our website:

Tickets for the X Factor/BGT will go on sale next Thursday 8th July from 8am to those who have purchased any tickets for this year’s Manx Telecom Bay Festival. Those lucky people will receive an access code on Wednesday allowing them to purchase on Thursday with general sale opening up at 8am on Friday 9th.

At the same time those who wish to make ‘Early Bird’ deposits for other performances during the festival or purchase all weekend festival passes all with extra benefits and discounts until 31st July can do so through the website as from next week. To accommodate parties or people who prefer to pay by cheque the organisers will be able to accept this form of payment as long as the booking is made and the cheque received within 5 days. For further details please visit

Jonathan said: “we decided to simplify things next time and just have 3 different ticket types: VIP, seat and stand. Also we have taken 10 rows of seats off at the back of the blocks which means standing is much closer to the stage and all the seating area will be fully controlled by mojo barriers.”

Isle of Man Bay Festival Triumphs

With the massive success of the recent Isle of Man Bay Festival, organisers have confirmed it will be back in 2011.

Over 25,000 people attended the festival over the three days, with the Sunday afternoon ‘X-Factor meets Britain’s Got Talent’ show pulling in a capacity crowd of almost 8,000 people. Based on police estimates, that is a bigger crowd than the one that descended on the prom for the busiest night of the TT entertainment.

The acts, which included a surprise performance from UK chart top-ten artist DJ Ironik, were a hit with the local crowd. Many of them expressed their desire to return to the Isle of Man, with some of them having stayed with local families during their visit.

Between the acts and the fans, the atmosphere in the ‘Valhalla’ tent – the biggest temporary venue in Europe – was electric. Even outside the tent there was a carnival atmosphere that was enjoyable for entire families, with bars, fairground rides and vendors filling the field.

The Festival organisers were ecstatic about the outcome of the event. Jonathan Irving commented: “We are delighted that the people of the Isle of Man got behind the festival and really enjoyed themselves, and we are proud that we could play a part in bringing it to them. We really want to thank everyone who was involved, from the fans and the acts to the army of staff and volunteers who made it all such a success. We would also like to thank Douglas Council for all their constructive assistance”.

As a result of its success, the organisers have already announced that the Festival will definitely return in 2011 on the weekend of the 17th, 18th and 19th of June in Nobles Park, subject to final ratification by the full Douglas Council. It has been confirmed that following on from the total success and popularity of the ‘X-Factor Meets Britain’s Got Talent’ that will make a definite reappearance again on the Sunday afternoon based on its huge popularity with fans. Due to an overwhelming demand to purchase tickets now for next year, with one couple changing the dates of their wedding to fit in next year’s festival!, tickets for the X Factor/BGT will go on sale on 6th July along with ‘Early Bird’ offers for the other shows.

Further news and updates will be available from and a further press release will be issued on 30th June.

  • 1. “Come As One” – solist David Bryan (pentru care juriul recomanda schimbarea interpretului, avand aceasta posibilitate conform unei clauze nou introduse in regulament)
  • 2. “It’s Not Too Late” – Paula Seling si Kamara
  • 3. “Searching for Perfect Emotion” – David Bryan
  • 4. “Running Out of Time” – Trupa Pasager
  • 5. “Playing With Fire” – Paula Seling si Ovi
  • 6. “See You in Heaven, Michael” – Mircea Romcescu (juriul recomanda schimbarea interpretului)
  • 7. “Come Along” – Lora ex-Wassabi si Mihai Preda
  • 8. “Jackpot” – Razvan Krivach
  • 9. “Round Around” – Catalin Josan
  • 10. “Crazy” – Alexandra Ungureanu
  • 11. “Love Is War” – Tina Geru
  • 12. “I’m Running” – Dalma
  • 13. “Save Their Lives” – Luminita Anghel
  • 14. “Baby” – Maria Sanchez (juriul recomanda schimbarea interpretului)
  • 15. “Lay Me Down” – Zero
  • 16. “Surrender” – Anda Adam

Miss Universe 2009, Ooops, Venezuela dit it again!

LIFE-US-MISSUNIVERSEYes, Venezuala did it again!

NASSAU, Bahamas – Miss Venezuela was the fairest of them all once again, winning the 2009 Miss Universe crown for the second year straight and the sixth time since the pageant’s creation.

Dressed in a flowing red gown, 18-year-old Stefania Fernandez hugged the runner-up from the Dominican Republic and danced in joy as her victory was announced Sunday.

The crown briefly fell to the floor as it passed from one Venezuelan beauty to the next.

But Fernandez said there was time for outgoing Miss Universe Dayana Mendoza to whisper in her ear that she must have worked hard for Venezuela to win consecutive crowns.

“What do we Venezuelans have?” Fernandez, an international relations student, told reporters after the pageant. “That we are ourselves.”

The other top-five finalists were runner-up Ada Aimee de la Cruz, followed by Miss Kosovo, Droga Ganusha; Miss Australia, Rachael Finch; and Miss Puerto Rico, Mayra Matos Perez.

During a question-and-answer segment with the five top finalists, Fernandez said she believed women have overcome obstacles such as hitting the proverbial glass ceiling.

“I feel we have reached the level that men are at,” she said.

When asked later how she thought beauty contests promoted equality between men and women, Fernandez said they provided exposure.

“We have quite a following worldwide,” she said. “We are models to follow.”

The new Miss Universe is from the city of Merida in the west of a beauty-obsessed South American country where hard-fought pageants are something of a national sport, with contestants widely dissected by the public and the media.

Fernandez said she did not know whether Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez would receive her. He did not meet with Mendoza when she won and made no public statements at the time.

But Fernandez said he might change his mind.

“We’ll see, because we are making history,” she said.

The top 15 Miss Universe finalists appeared in bathing suits before the final 10 were chosen for the evening gown segment.

Pageant co-owner Donald Trump told reporters, “I think this is the most beautiful group of women I’ve ever seen.”

The televised event included musical performances by Flo Rida, Heidi Montag, David Guetta and Kelly Rowland.

Montag gave her first live performance, singing “Body Language” from her debut album.

Fans cheered on the blond star of MTV’s “The Hills,” although NBC, which broadcast the event in the Bahamas live, blocked out more than half of her performance as they introduced the 15 finalists.

“It’s my first performance live and it’s in front of a billion eyes,” Montag said.

The on-stage hosts were Billy Bush, co-anchor of “Access Hollywood,” and Claudia Jordan, a former Miss Rhode Island USA who has appeared on several TV shows. Judges included actor Dean Cain and supermodel Valeria Mazza.

Miss China, Wang Jingyao, was named Miss Congeniality and Miss Thailand, Chutima Durongdej, won Miss Photogenic.

Many contestants have suffered from dehydration in recent weeks, and Jewel Selver, Miss Turks and Caicos, went home Saturday to recuperate, said Esther Swan, Miss Universe spokeswoman.

Dupa operatie, Depeche Mode si-a reluat concertele din cadrul turneului “Tour of the Universe”, primul show fiind pe 8 iunie, in orasul german Leipzig.
